Is this grammatically correct?

"The reporter asked Derek if  what he said had to do with anything with the subject at hand."

If not, what is a better way to say it to get my point across?

Fixed, at least in my eyes it is. Is this for a class paper. Remember the golden rule. More words=better paper.

I read the sentence like 3 times aloud before asking NT for help.
