the thread about nothing...

blacklion23 blacklion23 Why didn't her mother really speak to you?
She really didn’t speak to anyone but her kids. This was an accomplished woman. Spellman Graduate with very high honors, ballet dancer, musician(played the cello), spiritual healer, and more. Married a NFL player that was actually pretty good, made the pro bowl a few times. This was the 70s. Unfortunately, he was a cheater and very abusive. There’s a story about he and her performing an exorcism to cast the anger demon out. All I know is at some point she became silent and only depended on her faith to get by. In some conversations with my ex, she would tell her to whisper because they were always listening. It’s a lot more to it, it’s deep……

NYC folks

Taking the princess to NYC for a day trip, tomorrow.

Any recommendations for a good breakfast spot near LGA airport?

Heard Buccaneer’s Diner is good?

Also, she loves Ramen or Asian cuisine - any particular spot in Chinatown?

Been awhile since I been in NYC.

*Bonus* Any dope thrift shops? picasso swerve picasso swerve

Pretty sure I'm getting approved for a software tester education :pimp: I've never seen anything like this, the application process consists of first having to do a bunch of logic tests and then today I had to 'present myself' infront of a jury panel and get grilled by their questions:stoneface:
Thankfully it went very well and they mentioned they were impressed across the board but somehow the approval process still isn't done, tomorrow I have to do an additional motivation interview and then finally they will approve a limited number of applicants out of everyone who applied.

I get that this particular company has very strict requirements for their job trainings in terms of competencies and motivation but sheesh.

Reminds me of my 7 hours interview - then had to come back to do another 3 hours

My sole purpose on this day every year is to share this dude’s videos
They’re amazing!

Mine was about 3 hours and the additional motivation interview will make it a total of about 5, definitely not what I expected from applying for an education. At one point they even started grilling me about my finances.
'What are your financial expectations from the kind of jobs you'll be trained to do' is a perfectly normal question but then it went to
'How much do you currently make'
'What is your financial situation, debt'
'Do you have the finances to relocate if necessary'

SoCalifornia guy here. The temps don’t get that much cooler for us so it’s still summer to us for a long time. I’ll have sweat stained shirts to prove it
It's probably gonna be a rough fall & winter. Time to break out my umbrella 😒😁

sorry guys but I'm not that very much acquainted when it comes to your job interviews and why it takes that long. normally, mine would last less than an hour regardless if I get the job or not. I'm just wondering why it was necessary to spend that long 3-7-10 hours just for an interview if there isn't even a guarantee that you would even get hired? it's not like you are going to have some business presentation of sorts, were you ? besides, at the end of the day, that would atleast be the last time you would ever face your interviewers unless you work for that person. anyway, for me personally, I wouldn't even stay that long without any kind of compensation, be it food or monetary kind. I've learned that since I wasn't compensated for my personal time just to tell me that I got suspended for a certain shift. learning from other co-workers, I should have ignored the request for that meeting.

To be clear, in my case this multi-hour presentation and questioning infront of a jury panel was not for a job interview. It's just part of the application for an education program, that's what baffles me so much. This whole process was far more rigorous than any job interview I've ever had. The organization that provides it does have a very high standing here amongst employers despite not being at the level of a college/university degree, I guess in part because their application process is so thorough and strict.
University here has no application standards, which I think is different from how US universities work. You can slack your way through highschool with the absolute worst possible grades and still go to the best university and pursue whatever degree you want, no questions asked. Of course you'll be strongly advised to not do so because the passing rates are pretty abysmal for lower level highschool degrees but at the end of the day the only requirement is tuition.
