Well there you go, BUT, everyone can’t do that. A successful business today can be bankrupt tomorrow. A degree gonna be a degree no matter what(most of the time). School is the safer bet. Entrepreneurship is a gamble.

Yeah she gambled. Kinda came out victorious from my pov. I mean she lives overseas. Who does that? But you saying school is a safer bet than a 9-5? What I’m currently doing

Its a safer bet than entrepreneurship. A degree will get you paid more for the 9 to 5.Thats pretty much guaranteed. Comma however, I always say doing what you want to do will pay more than doing what you have to, even if it doesn’t.

I told my godsister I wanted to return to school and she said “don’t do it” because I’d have to do math, owe loans and that there’s plenty of ways to make money without having a degree and that i should try going to a trade school..because we need more of that in America

idk what yall think?


Should I work the year out or go back to school? I’m working but if I go back to school I won’t be doing both

Like anything it has its pros and cons but I have no regrets I’m an equipment operator and my wife is a laborer. We both have no issues finding jobs, will retire and don’t pay for healthcare so it’s nice not worrying about that.

I wouldn't call it gambling. More like a calculated risk.

I think it just depends on what you want to do, keeping in mind that you'll likely be doing it for the rest of your life.
I assume trade school is likely vastly cheaper than college/university in the US? The amount of money you'd have to pay in tuition fees should also be taken into account.
Tuition can be as low as €120/year for a top university in my country but that's with the absolute maximum amount of financial grants. The standard fee without grants is around €900-1000/year.
Trade schools cost way less so I'm assuming it's the same in the US but with different monetary proportions obviously.

I took a 6 month software testing course after being unable to physically continue nursing school and now I earn roughly the same amount as a chemical engineer friend of mine who has a bachelors in chemical sciences and a masters in chemical engineering. If you want the big money for as little effort as possible, IT is the way.
I can't see myself becoming an actual developer but you earn a similar amount as a software test engineer. You also write code to some extent (Selenium, Specflow, ... ) but you're only coding tests to make sure the developers' work functions correctly.
