The head chef at my job got really pissed at me today for what I feel was an unwarranted reason. We were short one person, so he asked me if I could wash some pots if I "had the time." Usually I would, but I was stuck serving on the worst unit (I work in the dietary department of a hospital) so I was busy with my own job until my break time. We're allowed 1 hour of break for an 8 hour shift. Everyone in the kitchen takes break from 11:00 to 12:00. At 11:05 he walks into the break room and starts giving me an attitude about not helping with the pots. I explain to him that I was busy with my own work, he gives me a stink face and walks out. At 11:55 he walks back in and starts giving me an attitude again about how I've been on break for too long. He thought we only get a 30 minute break. I explain that the night supervisor made us aware that we're entitled to an hour of break each day. He tells me that the night supervisor is "full of crap." I wanted to stand up for myself considering that he was singling me out when literally every other person working in the kitchen was taking an hour break today, as they do every single day. I don't understand why he would expect me to be the only person to help with the pots, or why he wouldn't say something earlier about people taking hour long breaks if he actually had a problem with it. This has been going on for months now. Now he says he's gonna "start watching everybody" ("everybody"=me) and see what we're busy doing all day.
