i've been looking at the new next gen games and talking PS and Xbox with my boy and dude will turn around and jump in the convo. Normally I don't mind but the breath man... havent smelled bad breath in while.

It's not a dumb question.
Import the files to itunes, click control J. A table should pop up. Under "File" check the bit rate box. Go to the file and it will tell you it's bit rate.
If you have a mac: highlight the file in finder, click command I, look for "more info", and then look for "total bit rate."
