I think you make a lot of generalizations when you talk about other genres. You put rap on this untouchable pedal stool. 

As I've already told you, your fav. rapper has collabed with a rock group. 

Obviously other genres are as good as rap.

I think that if you gave other music genres a listen you'd find something that you liked.

I was like you in 7th grade. I only listened to rap and thought that rock was for white people.

Then I played this game called Guitar Hero at my friend's house.

Long story short, that moment was when I realized rap wasn't the only music I should be listening to.

You must like movie soundtracks or game soundtracks right?

You must like the Halo theme, which is obviously not rap.

There's too much good music from other genres for you to box your musical interests into one genre.

Pretty much every movie I like, I look up the OST.

My fav. types of OSTs are anime OSTs.

Very few films can get by with scenes that have no soundtrack, its almost always the music that sets the proper mood and feel to the scene.

In most cases, I'd agree. But there are some cinema that use little to no music.

A great example of this is The Wire. 

Other than the OP/ED, the sounds are diagetic. 

It's annoying most times because I'll hear a really good song playing but I can't shazam it because it's too obscured by what else is going on in the scene.

Ahh...The Shawshank Redemption aka God goes to jail... good choice. A movie filled with classical scores that compliment the mood while going unnoticed. Thats exactly what a good soundtrack should do for a movie of that caliber.

Now can you imagine that movie with a rap soundtrack ? :x
