How did they reject your FASFA? That doesn't make any sense unless you messed up or did it late, they have to accept it

They've been telling me that I'm a dependent student, even though
I'm clearly an independent (legal guardianship).

It sounds like you filled out your fasfa incorrectly and they flagged it for verification

you're a dependent. If you filed your FASFA as an independent (idk how), you did it wrong. Go talk to your financial aid counselor

They've done that multiple times.
I've corrected it and everything is true, but the fafsa says I'm independent.
