Yeah, when I was back home. My parents and in-laws always had TFC or GMA on...So hearing all the comments during the elections was pretty surprising.

When I went there years ago, I was always told not to say anything to anyone. But folks knew I was from the U.S. because I was bigger than all the kids there and was dominating the court during pick up games

Both. LOL. Most of the people here in the PI spend their days arguing about Duterte. It even got to a point that the arguments were in a comment section of a post about dogs
he uses the bible as a reference to justify the **** that's happening here

I'd say so. I was there last year but that was before Duterte was in office. There are definitely some rough areas (as with anywhere you go) but overall I never felt like I was in any sort of danger. Well except for the one time where I took a wrong turn and our car was surrounded by a gang of kids huffing glue.
My uncle went a few months ago when Duterte was just being inaugurated and he said it felt safer. Then again before this year he hadn't been back since 2001.

I can def relate to the sticking out as an American though. I only played a few games but all the locals called me "AmBoy" and wanted nothung to do with me in the post lol

From what I remember it was probably somewhere in Manila or Quezon City. I heard details from my friend's brother that a relative who was driving the van he was in, was part of the robbery but he ended getting killed too. It's crazy to think that stuff really happens.

Facebook in general is filled with garbage...
But yeah, since adding people from the Philippines I've noticed my news feed is significantly more cluttered. Only thing I really use Facebook for is Messenger. If not for that I probably would've deactivated by now.
