the thread about nothing...

I don't have a budget per se. I just keep track of my funds. If it dips below a certain threshold I then ease up on the spending.

I don't tell myself oh I can only spend this month this week, etc

The way i budget myself :

Variable expenses : going out and activities
Fixed expenses : rent, public transit pass, cellphone, basketball (everything that NEEDS to be paid)

Income - fixed expenses - variables expenses = amount i can save up.

Then i force myself to save that amount, pay my fixed expenses and the rest is for me to spend however I want (i put that amount to a minimal and really forces me to spend on stuff i really want. No more buying shoes or spending on clothes, i'd rather spend that money with my friends / family doing activities or grabbing a drink. Experiences > material stuff).

There is also a dedicated amount of my savings that i put towards traveling, which is very important.

For now, most of my savings is going toward graduate school, which i'm starting in september. Fortunate enough, it won't cost me a lot of money. I tread grad school as an investment anyway.

Backstory?

One of the residents I work with has apparently taken up magic as a hobby. We'll be waiting for a case to start and he'll go into a routine, or pull up a YouTube clip, or start breaking down his technique. The other day he did some **** with a piece of dressing in lieu of a scarf. :lol He'll illicit a few laughs and I'm here like…

I pay for all daily expenses with my CC for points..the only time I actually need cash is for paying for lottery tickets..I'll also need cash for going out..but that's it

As far as small talk is concerned I'm not a big talker but I'll keep it cordial if someone wants to engage. I'm definitely team no talking in the cab tho. If I'm in a cab I've either had a few drinks or I'm just dead tired. I just wanna say good evening and close my eyes, not talk about solving all of the worlds problems lol

This one guy I became good acquaintances with can turn a 10 minute conversation into a 40 minute conversation. It was ridiculous how much he could keep a conversation going. Masterful lol

Financial analyst by job title so i know where every penny i earn goes.
Sadly i still have a ton of college debt to pay down so I don't have fluid assets to invest right now. And by the time i will....i need to save for a ring/house/wedding/kids.

There is one woman at work that i don't mind small talking with because she has a golden retriever and i have a mini golden doodle so we swap dog stories. Its small talk i wouldn't consider her a close friend but i don't mind it when she stops by my office. Everyone else can swerve hard. Its like they don't have any friends and im quiet so they can just talk for 15 mins about whatever and i nod and say "yeah backbends and uneven bars ok" "ok rogain yeah" "yeah cats have claws yeah".....because im too nice to just be like "na...leave"

I'm horrible at saving, only because I had a crappy paying job before. Currently saving for a wedding and moving out + paying off cc debt

I love when i put money somewhere like clothing pockets and take it out storage or whatever down the road and find money in the pocket.

Have my bank account set up so every 2wks it automatically takes $300(or whatever amount i want) out my account and transfers to my savings when i get my paycheck

NT fam, I saw this cute shorty at church. It turns out she's the aunt of one of my 12yo students (I teach lessons after mass).

My student walks over with her and I dap him up. I'm smooth talking, making her laugh, and I ask her which school she goes to.

House ... I don't even know if I ever gonna get a real place for myself. I'm traveling a lot lately and once my contract is up down here I think I will be moving somewhere else, like country wise , and I won't be stoping ... wedding/kids/ damn all that seems so far away still.

Forcing yourself to that kind of savings it's still sort of hard , at least for me. Clothing well it's being kept on the low and well shoes, it's a problem but i've been doing good this last couple of months, even selling some of my old stuff.

My student is only 12yo. He introduced her "this is my aunt" so I thought at least 20yo+.
