reffing intramural basketball for some college kids bc I want to make some money. My first time reffing ever, game 1 last week didn't go so well. I missed too many calls. I was focused on looking for traveling because I missed a couple but then I couldn't spot the fouls. Any refs here with pointers.

Not tryna get fired both teams were heated at me and management was not impressed

You'll get better with time. It's better to make less calls than more. Players will adjust. When you do make a call blow the whistle loud and be confident. If you messed up and people are talking to you simply say im calling it like I see it and move on. It's for fun - don't get heated and walk away from players getting heated.

Lol it is a surreal experience to visit your old neighborhood. I remember things being so much bigger.

I even remember the walk to the barbershop being so long and scary and was afraid to go to that barbershop without my pops.
