I once found a $10 bill on the ground at Target and the only person around was a lady sitting at a bench. I picked it up and looked at her to see if she would notice. On one hand, I thought maybe it was hers and I'd go over and ask. On the other hand, what if she lies and says it's hers. I ended up taking it. If you actually see them lose the money, you should give it back. Otherwise, you can't trust anyone.

Anybody ever here those stories where people just find a bunch of money in a bus ? What would you do ? I once was in a train in southern Cali “not filled to half capacity” and directly across from me was a man who looked unsuspecting but as the Amtrak workers were checking tickets a worker grabbed a book above him she opened it and it was a book with a big compartment and smelled like dank. After the worker confiscated it the guy turns around and say that book had weed. like saying it wasn’t his. Crazy part of this we were on the train heading north because prior to us boarding that train was heading south. Crazy night. Lol looked like a hog warts book.

10 or so years ago I saw 80 bucks on the floor at a very small restaurant. There were 2 other people sitting in the back (which is probably 10ish feet away). I put my foot on the money and bent over like I was tying my shoe. Sure the **** did.
In a "finding" situation, I don't necessarily feel like it's on me to help figure out whose money it is. Not unless I'm at work or at home. That said, I remember I went to the liquor store with 40 in cash and my ID in one pocket. Both feel out of the pocket right outside of the store. I noticed after maybe 5 or so minutes of being in the store. Go back out and my ID is on the ground but no cash. Someone probably walked into the store, saw me and laughed at the fact that they had my 40 bucks. I was feeling some kind of way about that because in that situation, a person could very easily could identify whose money it was. Plus it was my ******* money...who likes losing money?
Lastly, 6ish or so years ago I was getting cash back from a register at Wal-Mart. Asked for a 20. The lady pulls out a 100 and is not even paying attention. I instantly start to sweat. I just stand there...praying she would freaking look down at what she was doing. After 5 of the longest seconds, she finally sees it. Buddy behind me immediately gives me ****. "Aw you only did that cuz she was cute." Just wouldn't have been right for me to take it. I noticed the mistake immediately.
