FATHER'S DAY & MOTHER'S DAY.
It's interesting how society treats irrepressible/negligent mothers compared to irrepressible/negligent fathers, and this is GLARINGLY true surrounding Father's Day & Mother's Day.
We have a WIDELY accepted term for irresponsible dads: Baby Daddy. "He's not my daughter's father. He's just my baby daddy."
As Father's Day is approaching, I'm seeing memes & posts along the lines of "Hope nobody says Happy Fathers Day to my Baby Daddy!'
And that's fine; he sucks if he doesn't prioritize his kid[ s ].
But if anyone said "Hope nobody says Happy Mother's Day to my kiddo's mom!" before Mother's Day, they'd get draaggggeeed. No one would ask for context, and the emboldened would chime in defending her without even knowing her. If you DARE say anything negative about a mom... pill-popping, alcoholic, neglectful, abusive, don't even like kids, even moms that literally left their kids like my mom did to my sister & I... the response is VERRRY different than the things I'm seeing right now leading up to Father's Day.
"She had a lot going on."
"She still gave birth to [kid's name] and nothing will take that away. You need to respect that."
"She'll figure it out. Give her a break. Poor thing."
And if the criticism is from a guy (her son, father, brother, etc) then the defense is already locked in:
"You're not a woman so you have no idea what she went through."
It's gross.
Hold moms accountable when they do things that you can't stand seeing from dads.
When 'baby daddy' is negligent/irresponsible, I don't want that criticism to stop. Actually I love it; COMPLETELY here for it.
But when moms are negligent/irresponsible, don't hold back. Say whatever you would say if it were Baby Daddy.
And support STRUGGLING BUT WILLING fathers who make mistakes instead of this classic line I've also seen so much: "See, their mother knows that. That's why custody almost always goes to moms. Guys just have no idea what they're doing."
Prioritize the KIDS, and that's not a gender specific demand.
Mom, dad, I don't care: Kid comes first and if they're not coming first, DO BETTER.
1. Criticize moms making irresponsible/negligent decisions that don't put kids first the same way you criticize Baby Daddy.
2. Support 'struggling but willing' dads the same way you support 'struggling but willing' moms.

My autistic nephew graduated last week. Wasn't surprised when my sister said "I can't believe I got him to graduate". I'm sitting there thinking "YOU?!?". She purposely sets up her work schedule and daily life schedule so that she doesn't have to take them to school or pick them up. Never makes them any meals and and pretends they don't exists because they would hamper her routine of coming home to get ready for the gym, shower and leave to go on dates, club hopping and drinking and sleeping around with guys from dating sites.
This is the same 40 year old woman abandoning her kids for days at a time so she can be a drug mule for a boyfriend she is sharing with other women across different states. The same one who allowed her apartment to be used as a narcotics packaging spot. Same one who tried to blackmail her kid by threatening to tell his school friends he wets the bed if he continues to complain about her boyfriend. Took everything in me to not blow up the spot but I was in a nice restaurant and didn't want to ruin my little nephew's moment.
F all of themSince little fozz was diagnosed with autism, the things I've heard and seen from family members when they were informed he was autistic is sickening
