with LEDs these days, regular low beams feel like they're blinding

My new thing is that in town/city/anywhere built up we don’t need headlights. In that environment, which is basically anywhere with streetlights, they don’t help because they’re not for seeing with - you just need to be seen so lights similar to daylight running lights is all that is required. That would make things safer because pedestrians would be more visible and you wouldn’t have the risk of glare, especially on a wet night. If cars just had small LEDs on the front you’d see them coming easily.

Obviously as soon as you’re out of that environment you need proper lights to see down the road - but that’s a totally different thing.

The main problem is that it would involve a change to car settings so would take a while to get cars working that way. You’d need a sort of town setting and full headlights as well as what we have at the moment.
