the thread about nothing...

Had some wild deer this weekend…
Absolutely disgusting
I never imagined the difference between domesticated and wild deer would be this massive. Regular deer is like a 9/10 but this was a solid 1/10.

I suppose there’s probably a decent bit of variety depending on the wild deer’s diet but even in the best case I can’t imagine this reaching above a 2/10

If you’re very very into ‘gamey’ flavor I guess maybe it could work for you, if not just don’t bother

Venison might be my favorite type of meat. 10/10 . I used to eat it a lot when my dad would hunt, but nowadays I only get to eat it when other people have extra they are giving away.

VERY few butcher shops in Oregon sell domesticated deer meat. Apparently the permit fees are high for that and it’s illegal to sell wild, hunted game meat.

Yeah aside from max quality wagyu, I'd easily put (domesticated) venison as my favorite meat. Smooth as butter and amazing taste.
Domesticated venison is pretty common over here. There's a deer farm less than a mile away from my house and then there's another big deer farm about 10 minutes away. It's still pretty expensive though.

Other meats I'd put in that 9/10 range would be bison and black angus beef (120 days grainfed only).
