The titanic vol. lost

Honestly, due to my own personal curiosity and obsession with Titanic, I find myself looking up stuff here and there. Pretty sure I do so at least a couple times through out the year. It’s crazy how every year they have something “new” to keep interest going.

But I had a faker over the other night. Should’ve seen my face when she asked to watch Titanic🤨. All I could assume is “oh, 4 hour movie, I’ll be sinking before the ship does”. But nah, this chick made me feel stupid asf as we watched. “Why dem folks even go down there?”😕 Old Rose comes on screen, her, “I think that’s Rose”. 🤨 But saying this one of yo faves. She made another comment about Jack being bad and that she thinks he gon die, and the Titanic being bigger than a city. I went to sleep. :smh:

LOL, condolences to you and your time spent that evening, sir.

I never cared about the Titanic. I saw that movie end to end once, in the 90’s. Saw it at my uncle’s old crib in Lefrak, the double VHS. That movie was the biggest, steaming pile of horse**** that I’ve ever seen and I hated DiCaprio for years over it. It wasn’t until Gangs of New York that I could watch a DiCaprio film again. Anything to do with Titanic is just ridiculous to me. And now, we have the sequel that Cameron is going to exploit somehow. Maybe we can get a Titan x Avatar crossover live event with merch.

But will PHub pin the parody on the front page:nerd:

If there is an OceanGate, Titan or Titanic porn parody, especially in a timely manner, then I am convinced we are officially no longer living in reality. Although one could argue the vehicle in Bangbus is maybe the size of Titan (if not bigger )

I’m BAFFLED how this somehow turned into a celebration.

Celebrate is a strong word but people are definitely making plenty of jokes about the situation which resulted in five deaths. It’s not baffling when you look at the entire situation. It’s partially because of the times we are in with social media and everything being for likes/views/lulz but mostly it’s because the one folks who died is a billionaire and the others were at least wealthy enough to spend $250K on something like this. I have only seen sympathy towards the teenager who only went to appease his father.

There’s also the fact that a ship with 750 migrants fleeing their country capsized in Greece and it got little to no coverage while this was on the front page for 5 people. That has rubbed people the wrong way too.

I get all of this.

It’s been like this forever.

One single white baby goes missing and world is on alert while 20 black babies go missing without even a sign on a light post.

Lives were still lost and families devastated!

I’m not upset at the coverage more so the lack of empathy.

RE: The bolded. It’s because they were rich people doing rich people things IMO.

Unless I’m oblivious to something tragic which lead to these people being rich (9/10 I am lol) I’m not sure what pocket watching is providing here.

Oh you “upset” at the lack of empathy huh?

Why? Because there was a loss of life? You above it all right?

We live in a pocket watching world, b. Plus based on your post about media coverage for white missing babies vs black kissing babies, I know you’re hip to what goes on in public discourse. There is a lack of empathy when bad things happen to the wealthy especially in instances like this where it cost $250K to get on board.

Would the reaction be the same if they went to space instead?

Space Tourism is actually more expensive. Going suborbital is anywhere from $250K-$500K but to go into the orbit is tens of millions. But a lot of trips are sponsored for a variety of reasons so not everyone going is necessarily super wealthy but rather they may be influential.

All of that is to say that right now if you are taking that trip with one of the NASA approved rockets by Blue Origin or SpaceX then the trip will be significantly safer than this. However, if things did go awry, especially if it was Elon’s SpaceX, then I imagine there would be a similar amount of jokes.

The jokes are only happening cause from all the facts now gathered (from the cost cutting and all that) and the fact they were rich it seems like a WILD idea to have done that.

Was waiting for someone to say it! This is not about them being rich! This about lack of empathy for not only “poor” decision making but idiotic decision making, hubris and entitlement.

My core ah zone only goes out to the kid. He didnt wanna go and did this for his father. Truly sad.
