Y’all sitting here arguing with nerds about the middy when nerds arent even against it.

truthfully, the non numbers people are using the midrange talking point to fight back against the analytics people (white) who are in their eyes taking jobs away from retired hoopers.(Black)

the warriors have everyone thinking that it is impossible to play winning basketball if you don't have an entire team spreading the floor.

this is a league of trends

Yet...the Warriors feasted in the mid range....Klay, Livingston, KD and Steph took them. The Warriors also posted up the most out of any team during their run.

The Rockets are really the only team that leaned fully in to trying to not take mid range shots. And when CP3 was there...he was their specialist for that. All the other teams have their best players specialize in that. Having multiple players being capable of shooting 3s and spreading the floor is a good thing.

Taking congested midnrange jumpers just because that’s how it was done back in the day makes no sense. A clean mid range shot is always encouraged. That’s why when a cat like Steph got chased off the line...he was shooting absurd from there. It’s a clean shot, once the floor is spread and you break the line of defense. Think some of the top players & scorers in the league minus Harden/.

Steph
KD
Bron
Kawhi
Embiid
Jokic
KAT
PG
Russ
Kyrie
Cp3
Etc

All those guys utilize the mid range when available. They don’t turn it down...and catch in the mid post and either get to the rim or make decisions in that area. When you have more 3 & D guys around these players and stretch bigs...more 3s will open up. But the best of the best still utilize most of the floor.

Harden literally had nobody around him at the mid range at various times last year and ran back outside the 3 point line to shoot.
Again you can't use anything The Rockets do as a point. They're the only ones that play that way.

When Bron says Morey could've waited a week, doesn't that show that he's not just talking about money? Obviously money is a factor but I thought he was clearly talking about the well being of the NBA reps in China at the time. It's like why are you tryna start **** when we're in enemy territory? That's how I interpreted it anyway. And if you just say something like 'I support Hong kong' that could be taken in a way you don't intend which is what happened with Morey. It's a regime where anyone who speaks out gets found chopped up in a river somewhere but we expect these dudes to speak up by any means.

But all these dudes, Morey, Steph, Kerr, harden, pop, silver etc could speak on what they specifically don't or do agree with. Talk to them in a few months and they won't be anymore informed or ready to give a statement than they are today. It's a punk move by all parties involved and I can't sit here and honestly say I would handle it any better. It's one thing to stand for something and risk your own neck but this is a situation where you can **** up a bag for a LOT of people and cause serious friction between two global superpowers. Look at all the trouble a lil tweet caused but we expect Bron and Steph to take it to the next level and put their career, livelihood and potentially the well being of themselves and their families at risk. It's a touchy subject

Yeah but it would be better  He'd have to deal with a day of the **** like everyone else who said the same empty bs. He did the exact opposite though and took a direct stance contradicting Morey. Who advised him to do that nonsense?
and he did it AFTER the commissioner came out with a public statement staying that the NBA supports free expression for its employees. bad move

Harden a 1 of 1

kd, curry, kawhi and plenty others still operate in the midrange

“They’re worse than animals” is love speech, you’re so right.
You also conveniently glossed over the other stuff, as well as @frink85 ’s entire post.
He also caught an L from the real biggest boxer of his time.
I’m a Lakers fan, so no I don’t want to bet on the Clippers.
If you want to continue to embarrass yourself on here be my guest, but you obviously are living in a bubble which is ironic considering what you’re trying to attack everyone on here for.
People that live that “everyone is wrong and I am right” mentality are the ****ing worst
Now tell me how exactly is saying that Manny is a global icon in the same sentence as Ali an act of "attacking people" when it was other clowns on here who started clowning on Manny for making those comments about gays? How did I attack people when I even said that Manny could be acting g that way out of his own ignorance due to the fact he lives in a different culture?

Tell me bud, how tf is that considered an attack when I even said along the lines of "freedom of speech no matter how ignorant the statement but betta watch our for the consequences" lol

You funny bro. Do not respond. I'm done wit yo ***

@Mike dunleavy
Come get on this bet.

I'll bet any Clipper fan up to 1K.

Come get it

The raptors just won a title by playing 5 guys that spaced the floor at all times

and that is fine, doesn't change my opinion that having a strategy of floor spacing isn't the ONLY viable way of being a championship team.

You can utilize the midrange game and still be an effective player & team.

Talk to any skill development guy, any coach at any level, Talk to any analytic expert,

there’s NO ONE telling people to turn down an open middy, ESPECIALLY come playoff time

(unless you’re the rockets, and they’re an incredible outlier)

You'd have a point if the first thing out of his mouth was safety of the players. But it was financial.

Bro they literally were talking about it on the Jump yesterday.

Give it up. No one but Filipinos gives a **** about Manny bum ***

who on the jump yesterday said to avoid the midrange jumper and not take it?

who said an open midrange jumper is a bad shot?

Chinay said there were analytics staffs telling players not to take that shot I think it was during the Lavine and Tatum segments.

Put me on ignore if you don’t want to see my responses, I’ll speak on it how I please though.
Manny is a grown *** man, that can decipher right and wrong for himself. Making the excuse of where or how he grew up is literally the same excuse these people with white supremacist grandparents out here make.
You made the stupid statement that he’s the biggest sports icon since Ali, you can’t be the biggest icon when the majority of mainstream consumers disagree with your beliefs and sentiments. That’s what everyone here was trying to make that point for. But you got defensive and started questioning everyone’s personal upbringings.
And I don’t care what somebody on a tv show that literally says outrageous things for ratings said so save that “but max kellerman said” ****.
You’re only backing argument has been “but he said” and “he’s fought in different locations.” Do better.

What championship team in the last 20 years didn’t have a guy with an effective midrange game?

and in Tatums case, this dude was taking contested mid range jumpers instead of getting to the basket and getting fouled. That’s not good basketball

Another reason people are sick of these analytics dudes is because they aren't just using them to account for current day ball, but they are using them to discredit players from a different era where rules, coaching, player skillsets etc etc were completely different from today.

If that's the best you can come up with.....lol

So are you saying Max Kellerman and countless other boxing experts and historians have invalid opinions when they say you can compare Manny's achievements as an athlete inside and outside the ring to Ali's?

Remember what Ali and Ali's daughter said about Manny before the greatest passed? Doubt that you do.

End of convo.

Sucks that Boston cant even stay competitive in a lackluster conference.

Imagine regarding something as gospel because Max Kellerman of all people said so

I bet Skip and Bill Simmons had something of value to contribute too.
