There will be an "IT" remake!! Thoughts?

Warner Bros. isn't clowning around on the remake front as it is sending everyone's favorite clown Pennywise back into the spotlight for a theatrical redux of Stephen King's novel IT to be produced by Lin Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment.

According to The Hollywood Reporter Dave Kajganich (The Invasion) has been brought on to pen the script, "which follows a group of kids called the Losers Club that encounter a creature called It, which preys on children and whose favorite form is that of a sadistic clown called Pennywise. When the creature resurfaces, the kids are called upon to regroup again, this time as adults, even though they have no memory of the first battle."

In a twist (because oh, how Hollywood loves a twist) even though the book and the TV mini-series were set in 1958 and 1985, this feature version will take place predominantly in the present day. Hell, who needs backstory and character development? Am I right? At the very least maybe Dave will be able to fix that really dumb ending. A giant spider? Really?

Man, all these remakes are corny. It's a shame that they just recycle and exploit movies from the 80s so that they can milk profits off of people who werechildren in the 80s, but are in their 20s and 30s now and have money.

I can just imagine how much OD-ing there would be with CGI effects.

the OG was mad corny to me.
If done correctly they could make the remake a good scary movie

Nope. His novels don't translate well into film, but his short stories/novellas do (ie Stand By Me, Shawshank, etc)

And the ending is a giant spider. what is there to fix? Actually, it's a thing from outer space but the kids minds can't picture what it really is, soit looks like a giant spider. It also doesn't exist solely on our plane of existence but kind of in two worlds. yeah. they shouldn't remake it.

I agree his books are alot better than the films turn out.

I think it wqon't be as good as the original just because the original wasn't even a movie, but a mini-series, like a few others of his books have beenmade into. It gave them the ability to make it really %*#%%!$ long and I think it's what made it better. They could really make it good though, but Idon't see it being better than the original

EXACTLY... the OG was kinda bad, I liked the book and the whole story itself but I think ifthey redid it with a more scarier clown and added a FEW CGI stuff then this movie might be really bad....

Warner Brothers announced they were going to reboot the film but this time it will be released in theaters, unlike the original which was a telefilm. The film is expected to be released in 2011.

Story of King's life. (No pun intended.)

Dreamcatcher, for example, was a cool read, but the movie was garbage.
