My choices are Newport Beach/Coast, Laguna Niguel/Beach, or LA/Beverly Hills.

If you're making money to live in either of the three AND live comfortable i'd go with Newport/Laguna.

Away from the city but not too far, but traffic will be a hassle.

I'd much rather deal with traffic when needed while keeping my sanity away from the smog and nonsense in the city.

Niguel is too far out to be within any reasonable (IMO) distance from the cities and shops.

newport coast > laguna beach > beverly hills > newport beach > laguna niguel. LA is too vague. what are you looking for here? somewhere ballin to live a family life or somewhere where you can go out and party a lot cause thats not happening in newport coast or laguna.

Yeah, and why is L.A. even in the discussion? The other areas are way different and a lot nicer in many ways.

dude said LA/Bev Hills.  you actin like he said he is considering East LA or South LA.  You realize that the city of LA and the city of Beverly Hills are adjacent to each other right?  My office is in Century City (techncially still city of Los Angeles).  I can throw a baseball... correction... i can kick a soccerball and hit one of those famous Beverly Hills street signs from the front door of the building.

OP, if youre a younger dude (early to mid 20's) and not tied down with a wife and kids, I'd recommend anywhere in the Westside (Santa Monica, West LA, Beverly Hills).  Plenty to do, nice part of town, close to a buncha stuff.

You say tomato, I say...

When I think about L.A., I don't think about the parts directly adjacent to Beverly Hills. But even those can be kind of bad. I used to live in a not so great area with a lot of crap to deal with. I could have rolled a baseball, golf ball, soccer ball or bowling ball down the street from there and it would have reached Beverly Hills in about 5 minutes.

I agree with Mojodmonky1

Who with the choice of Beverly Hills, Newport and Laguna doesn't pick Beverly Hills? Its Beverly Hills. If you live in Beverly Hills you pretty much can experience all LA has to offer without a hassle, the same can't be said about suburbia.

And I'm curious what crap you had to deal with DeezyVSOP, being from LA i must say I'm biased but I don't see why anyone would want to leave a hub like LA for suburban periphery. Plus, it helps to live in a diverse environment where you have to deal with different types of people. Versatility and cultural knowledge +1.
