Besides Pizza Bianco, what else is there to do. I googled and found some things but I would prefer to hear it from the donkey's mouth. Probably around July.

I know I will probably go see Taurasi.

Mods, there is not a regional forum for this region. So if you decide to lock it, just move it and say where you moved it to. You all locked (instead of moved) a visit New Orleans thread a few weeks ago and I didn't understand why.

If I know your intentions (I believe I do), this thread is just a ploy to ignite talk about the Arizona law and the fact that millions of people are boycotting that state until they make some changes.

...But Im sure you have very good reason to suddenly want to go to Phoenix.

LOL Nah man this is legit. Funny though. I have been wanting to go to Arizona since I was in elementary school because I loved the show Hey Dude on Nick.

DC - Bianco is alright... In my opinion, not worth the wait - especially if you're short on time.

I'm guessing that you're from DC? If that's the case I'd advise to go somewhere that offers something different (and tasty) compared to your area. I've never been to DC but I'm also guessing that generally your food is better there than here.

With that said there are two spots that I say are THE best and must go to places. Both are just between nicer sit down and fast food places. Both places make everything in house.

1. Fry Bread House - 7th Ave & Indian School. I'd recommend the Combo Taco with Green Sauce... also order a Powdered Sugar Fry bread with honey on side (on side so that it doesn't soak the bread and take away texture). For this you'd pay about $14 or so (with drink). I have yet to try a better place that makes Frybread tacos or frybread in general. Native American food is a part of the SouthWest experience -- Highly recommended.

2. The Wraps - Don't know if you're going to be on the Peoria side - 83rd Ave and Bell. I actually lived in SoCal area and had lots of experience with Greek/Mediterranean/etc etc food.. but this place is one of the top. You have to get a full size wrap (recommend shawarma), as they make their pita to order. The smaller wrap uses pre-made pitas. Make sure you also get their "salsa", it's home made and spicy -- but integral. Price for Wrap, fries and drink about $12 or so. I live waay on the other side of town, so I can't frequent it as often as I'd like. But this place is great. An older Greek couple own it.

Far as things outside of food - well this is Arizona man. Umm we have good hiking? I don't do clubbin anymore so can't tell you about that.

Not the point. Im from NY>LA, Im not worried about safety.

Many people are boycotting AZ to show their displeasure with their newest law.
DC is purposely going to show his support for the law.

Oh is that what's up? I didn't know --

Well those laws are enacted til end of summer...

But ya, AZ isn't prime on anyone's visit list.

Which would mean tickets to Zona should be cheaper

@6dollaBURGER is there any type of riverwalk like in San Antonio? I don't want to be ignorant about Arizona being all desert. I am sure that isn't the case.

I don't care about clubbing. Never been my thing. But other than that, how is the night life?

I plan to taste as much food as I can get my hands all. Cuisine is my #1 reason for traveling.

Yea you might be right Diego. I did cancel a trip to NO because of what is going on down there in the Gulf.

Might do LA again but I went there in 06.

Good stuff...I'd like to add:

Breakfast:

- Over Easy
- LoLo's Chicken & Waffles

Lunch:

- Chino Bandido
- Stax Burgers
- Oregano's

Dinner:

- White Chocolate Grill
- Sapporo's Sushi
- Grand Lux Cafe

Day Trips:

- Sedona / Flagstaff
- Botanical Gardens
- Dbacks game
- Musical Instrument Museum

**All around the Phx / Scottsdale area.  DC - feel free to PM me, and I can give you more suggestions.  I'm a former Los Angeles transplant, and been here for 5yrs....and love it.  peace!

Alpha Phi Alpha was supposed to have their national convention their this summer but publicly moved it to Las Vegas. The national president even had meetings with Pelosi (sp?).

The Phoenix/Scottsdale/Glendale area is nice. Ive been to that area numerous times. Was there in January for the Fiesta Bowl and had a great time.

Ioki - where in LA? Nice list: I'd single out LoLo's from that one as good eats. However, I see that they've opened at least one new locale - on Scottsdale. They franchising now? It looked like it was ... I only ask because franchising seems to decrease quality.

Also, to add: If you want a nice light brunch at a semi nicer place - Kinda artsy ambiance.. My Florist is good. AZer's this is a good place for a mid day date. Food is light, heathly, has bar (good wines). $40 for two should be well worth a good impression. Oddly, best plate is their Salmon, which conversely do not recommend for date. It's fresh salmon, tomato, onion, and choice of bread - all served separately. Very very good.

DC - I just briefly looked at Riverwalk online. I don't think we have anything similar. There is Tempe Beach Park, which if you happen to come during an event, is a nice place. Beach Park is at the top of Mill, which is suposed to be the University spot.. but it has fallen off greatly. Not sure if Mill + Beach Park walk would be veeerry impressive.

I know, I drove to all 3 of them while I was there. They arent really that far apart. I stayed in Phoenix and I visited people in Glendale and Scottsdale and it didnt take me long to drive at all.

Maybe I am just used to things being spread out. Thats how things are in the Dallas/Arlington/Ft. Worth area where I live.

Oh yea - I'd recommend First Friday.. if you come during the first friday of the month. Good Arts walk... lots of people.. will be good night weather during summer.
