Since their new GM Sam Presti took over the Sonics have been doing work.
February 22, 2008Acquired forward Donyell Marshall and guard Ira Newble from the Cleveland Cavaliers and forward Adrian Griffin from the Chicago Bulls in a three-team trade; waived guard Brent Barry.
July 21, 2007Acquired forward Kurt Thomas and 2008 and 2010 first-round picks from the Phoenix Suns for a 2008 second-round pick.
July 5, 2007Named P.J. Carlesimo coach.
July 4, 2007Signed forwards Kevin Durant and Jeff Green.
June 29, 2007 Acquired forward Wally Szczerbiak, guard Delonte West, the rights to forward Jeff Green and a 2008 second-round pick from the Boston Celtics for guard Ray Allen and the rights to forward Glen Davis.
February 24, 2006Traded forward-center Vitaly Potapenko to the Portland Trail Blazers and forward Reggie Evans to the Denver Nuggets and acquired guard Earl Watson, forward Bryon Russell and a 2008 second-round pick from Denver as part of a four-team deal.

Basically, over the next three years, Seattle has 13 draft picks, seven in the second round. They have 2 1st round pics in each of the next 3 drafts.
2008: Sonics pick, Suns Pick
2009: Sonics pick, Spurs Pick
2010: Sonics Pick, Suns Pick
IF the Sonics pull out Beasly or Love next year

.
Also, the Suns 2010 pick will be a high pick. 38 year old Shaq making 20 million = not good. Nash will be 37 too, but I think he will retire before than dueto his chronic back problems

Also, they have 4 expiring contracts next year. Ira Newble, Robert Swift, Francisco Elson, and Mickael Gelabale.
Also, Adrian Griffin's salary is partially guaranteed for 2008-09, but the Sonics could easily reach a settlement.
The Sonics can be a major player in free agency next year.
Coupled with the growth of Durant and Green, this teaam is going to be a problem in 2-3 years.
I feel bad for the fans in Seattle, because this team is going to be fun to watch for the next couple of years in OK City

This is how you rebuild a team

your absolutley right.

what i would do to get a core like they have this summer with guys like ma boi Jeff Green and Durant

2008: Sonics pick, Suns Pick
2009: Sonics pick, Spurs Pick
2010: Sonics Pick, Suns Pick

July 21, 2007Acquired forward Kurt Thomas and 2008 and 2010 first-round picks from the Phoenix Suns for a 2008 second-round pick.

$arver basically sold those picks away because he didn't want to pay Kurt Thomas and the draft picks.
The Suns got a big trade exception in the deal though
That Suns pick in 2010 is going to be up there too.

Great job getting a young franchise player, acquiring picks, and getting expiring contracts. Now they need to stabilize their situation as far as where theywill play to attract FA's.

That should be number one on their To Do list over anything else.

The West knows how to build and rebuild teams. The East is run by a bunch of idiots.

When are they moving to Oklahoma City?

I wished they moved to San Jose instead

Isiah doesn't want to rebuild, he wants to win now. He's a *#%+%% idiot for that though. Beating washington, losing by 40 to sixers, now beatingraptors. We should be tanking for the draft.

they're moving to OKC for sure?

they should move to Anaheim =(

or the people in NO should stop going to hornets games and move to SoCal in Anaheim

Come to Buffalo! lol

This rebuilding of the team though has been masterful...defintely something aspiring GM's should examine (hell and some current ones)

I'd be sooooooooo happy if we're able to get B Easy or Rose next year. YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW.

PG. Rose

Or

PG. Augustine or Singatary
SG. Durant

Got to respect the way they've been doing it, I'm glad to see them on the rise hopefully.

Presti milked a few draft picks with acquiring and sending Kurt Thomas. He got middle-man fee for that transactions.

I can't wait until Presti starts packaging those extra first round picks for high lottery picks.

This is making me want to move back to OKC.

OKC is doing big things, they are either the 13th largest growing city in the world or nation, I can't remember but I imagine the latter. They also are the3rd largest city geographically in the nation, behind a city in Alaska and...Jacksonville(?).

Lot of opportunities for major corporations and business. The NFL is looking too.

I'm just not sure if theres alot of jobs in my line of work there, that will advance my career.
