1. Guns for home protection are mostly overrated, much higher chance you end up shooting yourself or a family member with the gun than an intruder.

2. Guns as cultural symbol for a certain kind of american-ness are underrated. Like it or not America is a nation that free itself through violet revolution, and the pre civil war south was only possible with guns.

the attachment to them is irrational, but so is bunch of other cultural **** countries do

liberals like to dismiss it as the influence of the NRA or gun operations but the truth is cultural symbols like that are extremely powerful ,

and conservatives are mostly right; real gun control would require a hugely aggressive government confiscation of legal fire arms as much as liberals like to pretend otherwise./

America was founded on civil disobedience, now the “patriots” are the biggest boot lickers and government/police slurpers. :lol

how times change.

I wrote an article a few months back on the NRA and gun control. Would love for you guys to read and let me know your thoughts.

Props. Well written article.
I always revert back to mass shootings. Cops usually pull up to the scene within a minute or two of the 1st 911 call being made, yet they don’t go in and attempt to intervene till about 20/30 mins in. Why? Because they’re afraid. They need strategy and opportunity even more so than their weapons to defend themselves.

Outside of using them for sport and for hunting, most of the time they’re more of a mental reassurance than they are practical in use.

your guns wont protect you from the government. lets be real this isn't the 1700's
people own guns cause they can and it makes them feel like they have a sense of security and power

im not against that though
i am against the loose gun laws and the right for everyone to have a gun
imo you should have to pass strict tests and classes to own one. you should have to pass an accuracy test etc

most people don't even go to the range to practice. they think they will just pull one out one day and be jon wick all of a sudden.

my girl wanted one. i told her no cause i wouldn't trust her with it. i know she wouldn't clean it and take care of it properly.
i also know she wouldn't go to the range often enough to be proficient in its use.
People "deemed" as danger to society aren't usually given guns legally, a test isn't hard to pass.

This argument never made much sense in regards to me the ppl that keep their guns in safes. Its timely process when u have to make a split second decision. I've seen many ppl fold under pressure, like will u even remember the code?

what do you mean you told her no? she's not an adult?

I was just showing a few guns
I got a glock too
I can re post without the cash
Pic is super old

Bust out some Dirty Harry type revolver

Man I could remember going to the local pawn shop with my dad because he was trying to buy an electric guitar. I walked over to the other counter and saw several Uzi machine guns. Anyway, I think guns are needed/ok but not machine guns or assault rifles for the general population. I hate hearing about these awful school shootings or people who go nuts at their old job.

"In some states, you can purchase a gun without going through a background check. That means you can go to a parking lot at Cracker Barrel in Oklahoma and buy an AR15 from someone you met on a gun forum on the internet. In other instances, there is something called the Charleston loophole, named after the tragedy that occured in Charleston, SC where Dylan Roof shot up churchgoers at a Black church. In some states where background checks are required for certain purchases, the purchase automatically goes through if the background check doesn't complete in 3 days."

I wasn't aware of this right here. Wild stuff. Yeah the 2nd Amendment definitely needs to revised, and a revision should be backed and supported at all cost.

No disrespect but how did she respond do your response?

Guns are neccessary imo for self defense. If enemies are using it, I need it. If enemies are not using it, the act of displaying it and intimidating a threatening person should suffice. And I definitely like to carry one, a rifle, if I'm going on a hike or jog in areas where wild animals can pose a threat. Guns are basically necessary where cops can't do their job properly or if their unavailable or just useless. Otherwise from all this, no one needs guns.

I own one, and it stays in my car/house 99% of the time. I don't wear it on my hip like the rednecks out here love doing. Intimidating random strangers is not my MO.

If I lived in a bad neighborhood, I would definitely get a gun.

I live in a pretty safe area so chances are probably more likely it ends up doing more bad than protecting.

Yeah, I used to live in the hood. Ground floor, ******* crack heads try and jump in the window like Ezel from Friday.

glad I don’t have to deal with that **** anymore.

This may not directly apply in here, but I’ve just known too many gun owners who always talk about needing it for safety and how they carry into places because you never know when you need it, wonder how it feels to constantly live your life on edge.
