Thousands of blacks have opened new accounts at black-owned Citizens Trust Bank
ATLANTA — More Than 8,000 people have opened up new accounts at Citizens Trust Bank, according to officials at the black-owned bank in Atlanta.

There has been renewed enthusiasm and impassioned pleas by civic and civil rights leaders for black Americans to invest in black-owned businesses and black financial institutions in light of the latest police killings of black men last week in Baton Rouge, La., and suburban Minneapolis. And it looks like the masses are finally listening.

The logic is that blacks will continue to be the victims of brutality, either by police or by the system, unless African Americans develop a power base that is respected. One way to do that is to develop strong cultural unity that enables blacks to maximize their dollar and collective wealth through investing in black-owned banks.

Citizens Trust Bank in Georgia and Alabama  have shown exponential growth over the last few days because of a new level of consciousness enveloping the community. Take a look at this line of prospective customers looking to open up an account with the Citizens Trust.

Dont they still opperate through the federal reserve system ultimately?

If they take the responsibility of using their growth to invest in the community, create jobs and make busi ess loans more accessible, among other things, i think its a great thing.

from what ive read and seen, this is the ultimate end goal. black money used to promote black business and black communities.

*waits for Republican whites to cry about reverse racism*

Honestly I think all this racial BS we have going on atm might actually drive more blacks towards black owned businesses.

Might be time to capitalize on this..

Even tho whites still benefit someways, this news csn inspire and create a trend. Puts the idea to action that our dollars are important, thus black lives really do matter.

The concept of intently trying not to benefit "whites" or not working/cooperating with those outside of the black race will undo any short term gains made by this kind of stuff

Some people sort of need to re-examine why they invest in a black owned business

It is virtually impossible to not do business where white people dont benefit. And its not even about not including whites. Its about building wealth within the black community and coming together to show strength and unity. Money talks and we need more to show soldarity with financial backing to create reform and begin to level the playing field forreal.

Reform is pretty vague

It's obvious black folks want to use our own kinship as a basis for our success as a community. But approaching it with the  "so we can win for a change" mentality is going to cause problems

Black folks who aren't financially competent need to take a look what core things will improve their chances of increasing their income

Education and family stability work for every other "race" in America.

Also if black folks want to watch each other succeed then we need check the monkey games ridicule of someone you don't agree with

Good point. Might have to re evaluate my decision.

Suspicion of the fed. Another excellent way of growing your funds

The way some people talk its like you guys are trying to collectively hide your money under the mattress

Why couldnt lil momma in the peach pants at least have a dam booty :{

somehow i dont even feel like an all black bank is safe.

Wayyy too much for TPTB to gain from letting it grow prominent and successful and then nuking black wealth. and with trump and hilary running for pres, it wouldn't surprise me at all for some shady trading to happen to keep blacks down as a whole.

Finally...

Also I agree with this.

I'm not mad at this but, will Blacks really put their money in a Black owned and ran bank?

I know Boston has a Black owned & ran bank called "United".
