This ain't Rick Ross or somebody.... This is a guy who knows what he's doing business wise, Has become a pretty good actor, Has Production companies, Plenty of endorsements, and A HUGE following their is a reason he can throw out that number and not be laughed at.

TI is BY FAR one of the most marketable rappers on the planet. Period.

Dude is well respected minus the occasional, unproven "snitch" allegations.

Has done movies. Has a television show.

Do you know how many chicks are THIRSTY for this dude? I personally know white, black and latin women that are completely enamored with him.

I remember him doing some meet and greet somewhere and they tweeted that at 12 noon, chicks were dressed like they were going to the club like they were trying to take that brother home.

And.....he can still rap and apparently still sell records too.

He's done a decent job with some of the artists under him (BOB, Dro made some noise). Grand Hustle's success as a label isn't much different than most. Some successes and some that didn't pan out like everyone hoped.

The economics of it all is based on what kind of deal it is, so I won't get into the numbers, but if there was a free agent out there who would command big dollars, he's one of them.

You have to keep in mind how much the legal issues have sidetracked dude.

If he can stay on track, he's as good as any rapper out there and has all of the marketable elements as well.

Personally, as an artist dude is washed up. If it wasn't for the reality show, Trouble Man wouldn't have had done the numbers it did.

Y'know at face value I think it's easy to forget just how big this guy is.  He doesn't necessarily pass the eye test (at least for me) as a 'superstar' rapper, but his albums have always sold really, really well even in the poor sales climate for rap.  He's messed himself up with the jail stuff but he's a bigtime artist.

A rhetorical question is a question asked to make a point without the expectation of a reply.

If the point you were trying to make was that people don't really check for TI, it was inaccurate. If it's just YOU that doesn't, you could have said that without the theatrics.

Trouble Man wasn't as good as I hoped it would be but it did sell. He knew what he was doing getting T-Minus to produce his single and then going and getting Wayne and Rico Love for Ball. I'm sure he had some other singles that I'm forgetting at this time.

I mean it's worth it if you have money to throw around like Jay or Dre (Roc or Scope) . . . but if you as a label are expecting this to "put you back in the game" then nah.

Sidenote: although I'm sure he's seeing paper and increased relevancy because of the show . . . it was just a terrible decision . . . the murder talk and then the Bill Cosby actions don't match man . . . rappers should stay mysterious as possible . . . Take a cue from Hov, Drake, Kanye. . . drop their music, do a few interviews to promote it, and then dip for a year . . . and all three of those dudes are selling 400k minimum first week.
