Great action flicks you should already own
-The Matrix
-Terminator 1+2 (I personally liked Salvation as well)
-Die Hard trilogy. Yeah, I said trilogy.
-Indiana Jones trilogy
-The Incredibles
-The Rock
-Snakes on a Plane

A few great dramas off the top of my head:
-Godfather collection. Use part 3 as a coaster.
-Seven
-Goodfellas
-On the Waterfront
-Glengarry, Glen Ross
-Reservoir Dogs
-The Shawshank Redemption

And like everyone said, go Blu.

Tombstone
The Hurt Locker
Forrest Gump
Monsters Ball
Mystic River
Boogie Nights
La Bamba
Snatch
Dawn of the Dead
Ray

It's great to have a good mix of everything, but don't go for EVERYTHING.
I buy movies that I figure would be hard to turn off if they showed up on my TV while I'm online.
IE: Training Day, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan
Movies I've seen like 30 times each.

And, of course, the staples if you're from my age demo:
Space Jam
The Sandlot
Little Giants
Cool Runnings
Dumb and Dumber
All the early Sandler movies.

You guys do know that people with DVD collections didn't just start buying them in 2012, right? Most have had them since before blu ray was even heard of. Please use common sense when you post

reasoning is sound. Apparently my prices are wrong...someone mentioned 35 for blu-ray. I don't buy either.

You're not the 1st person I've heard say it was sub-par but I really liked it.  I even pre-ordered.
