The
New England Patriots and quarterback
Tom Brady have finalized a four-year contract extension that will be officially filed Friday, a source close to the negotiation confirmed Thursday.
The extension gets added onto the final year of Brady's contract and goes through 2014. ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports that Brady's four-year extension is worth $72 million, including $48.5 million guaranteed, according to a source familiar with the deal.
Sports Illustrated's Peter King first broke news of the finalized agreement during halftime of NBC's broadcast of the NFL's season-opening game between the
New Orleans Saints and
Minnesota Vikings, saying he spoke to Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who told him the deal was finalized.
