I was considering moving to Canada because their seems to be limited chances or advancement in the United States, i graduate college in may and the job market is really bleek, there is a freeze on the majority of the jobs that im interested in, and from what i read in the news with the outsourcing jobs, the growing unemployment rate, health care being so expensive, soliders in Irag/ Afganistan etc. Not sure how much longer the country can go on this way, with out collasping. Maybe im over thinking it, but I just want to see what else is out there. if any NTer's live in Canada, mainly Toronto could you fill me in on what life is like there, the cost of living, job market etc, do immigrants have a hard time getting jobs and housing / citizenship etc, thanks in advance

I think like all other major cities, if you don't have any connections in specific job markets, you will have a hard time. The cost of living here is quite expensive especially when you consider the amount of tax you have to pay. 
What's your degree? Who do you know in Toronto? Do you know of anybody that can hook you up with a job while you look for one?

oh yea, and Drake.

i went there this past summer... probably my favorite city ive been to yet, and ive been to alot of them. i get the feeling that its kinda on the pricey side but if you can afford it, why not?

Here in Toronto the amount of opportunites at this time is not much more than your major cities like Chicago, New York, and L.A., but it's a great city.

thats a fairly hard field to crack in toronto, i should know because my girl is in the same field. a large majority of her friends from uni actually went to europe n the states for opportunities. you need reallllllly good connections to get in.

thats a fairly hard field to crack in toronto, i should know because my girl is in the same field. a large majority of her friends from uni actually went to europe n the states for opportunities. you need reallllllly good connections to get in.
 
Are you looking for a law enforcement job? I graduate with my degree in CJ this spring and the job market definitely sucks in that field.

I moved from NYC to toronto last year. Lived there for about a year with my dad, and theres not really much difference between the two cities if that helps any. It is pretty damn expensive. Im in school right now and on average the gov. takes about 43-53% of dat paycheck. soo ur really not even gonna be making much guap, not even enough to get by and not nearly enough to make u wanna buy a pair of kicks. Im just speaking from hear-say and what Ive learned in economics. Ive only had one job for a couple months and since im in school they only took about 100 off my paychecks.

Since you don't know anybody it might not be the wisest thing to just ship yourself out here expecting great things. Not a bad place to live tho I liked it, but I moved to Ottawa just a few months ago.

This is the most wrong thing I've read today.....gov't usually hits you for around 25-30% of your check which goes to health insurance and other things that help the city/country run.  I've lived in a few US cities and there wasn't a HUGE difference in the amount of tax and benefits being taken out

To live in Toronto, you have to connect with the right people and you can move up that ladder rather quickly. Like anywhere, it depends on how much you want it. Great city, we have some of the best nightlife I've ever seen and our women are top 5 in North America
