Who on here has attended one? What career did you choose and do you feel it was worth it? Would you recommend it to those who decide to go this route as opposed to a tradition university?

Who on here has attended one? What career did you choose and do you feel it was worth it? Would you recommend it to those who decide to go this route as opposed to a tradition university?

i aint go to trade school but when i was at a junior college alot of my homeboys was takin trades. they got finished quicker than people in academic classes & most of em got jobs in they trade as soon as they graduated. if u know wat u wanna do & u can do it thru gettin a trade then u might as well. im thinkin bout takin barber classes myself

If you know what line of work you are aiming for, then sure trade school is your thing
Its a fairly fast paced class, because they want to put you into the working field ASAP, so you can start earning your $
Trade school isn't really a social environment. Its 90% dudes in most trades programs I've seen
It is a social environment if you want a sausage fest, nothin' wrong wit that
I think most of these full-time programs are monday to friday. And you basically stay with the same class, and stick with those same classmates

trade school is good for some people, but what happens if 3 years down the line you decide you don't enjoy it anymore?
at least with a college degree it allows you to make a change in your career if you wish to do so

I am almost done with a pharmacy tech program that will allow me to make decent money while I finish my degree. It also apparently will look good on my applications to grad/medical/pharmacy etc school. Its not a bad way to make some cash quick, but I would recommend using it as a supplement to your traditional degree

This is what I was coming in here to say. Atleast if you did it at a community college you'd get an Associates. Granted, in today's world you wont get far with one.

Depending on where you live, you should consider getting a welding certification. My boy does welding for CSX and he started in April. To date he had made about $70,000 (with overtime of course)...I'm located in nyc

My friend went to Sierra Academy of Aeronautics and launched a satellite called EchoStar 8 for the Dish Network. http://www.lyngsat.com/echo8.html He even got to travel to the former USSR & Kazakhstan. With those skills he eventually got hired at Boeing in Washington.

3 years down the line he can open up his own business from the money he made off of his trade and not have to lift a finger.
read about some trade school reviews down here in the maryland area, wasnt good reviews......
try to go to your nearest one and ask some ppl that attend.

if you love manual labor than by all means do this. also if you love to do the same thing over and over again
the money is def good...especially when you work memorial day, 4th of july and labor day...trust me you will be working those days. overtime
i worked as a pipefitter for the last 5 summers and trust me...3 months was plenty for me. waking up at 5am everryday is not the most fun.
