I've been doing some research on the Infiniti G35 Coupe, gets great reviews but I see a reoccurring trend with people complaining about how much tires, brakes & electrical parts cost... which is expected since its an entry level sub luxury vehicle [owners must have previously owned Atlima's &Civic.] Just wondered for those NT owners on here how has maintaining the car been, expensive, fair, less than you thought.

I currently have an 08 Pontiac G6 so obviously maintenance has been quite low but should I expect a big leap in maintenance cost. I currently pay around $60for oil change, Im thinking the G35 would be in that range or slightly higher

complaining about how much tires, brakes &

thats contingent on driving style.

but staggered tyre will cost more to replace in general

The G is a relatively reliable car, many have gone over the 100k mark w/o major issues. Maintenance won't be as cheap asa Honda, but it's not far off either. My local Infiniti dealership charges $50-60 for an oil change, compare to ~$30 with a typical Honda.

You can get brakes done elsewhere besides the dealership since the labor is extremely high. Aftermarket parts are out in abundance and places are willing todeals too. So for example if you need to replace the rotors, you can most likely get a good deal on an aftermarket rotors that's slotted, drilled or bothwith install for less than what the dealership with charge for OEM with labor.

Tires, you can always shop around. You don't really need to get the top of the line model just for driving around daily. You can get a set of 4 new tireswith install for around $600-700. The life of the tires will not be as long though because you cannot rotate tires on a stagger set up to maximize the life. You should still get at least 20,000 miles from the set, granted that you won't be doing a lot of spirited driving and/or run over nails that are notrepairable.

Thanks, reading all the discrepancies about the brakes on Edmunds freaked me out, some people were talking about having to change brakes every10-15K. Only thing I hate is that right now im getting almost 25mpg from my G6 now that will probably go down to 17-18 range with the G35.

why are you trading in an 08 Pontiac G6 for a 04/05 Infiniti G35, especially one that hasn't given you any real problems? do you just want a nicer car? areyou upside down on your payments? and will it be an even trade, or will you have to pay more than you do now to get the G35? in this economy, i would probablykeep the G6 for as long as i could instead of trading it in for an older car, which (probably) has a lot more miles on it.

i will take a G over a g6 anyday... not trying to put down your car, but the G is an amazing car to drive int he first place.
the car definitely need staggered tires for the better drive. but at the same time, infiniti's don't cost that much on maintenance.

and depending on how you drive that mpg can go down... from time to time my g37 only gets 14-15mpg

Naw Infiniti G35 was always my first choice but at the time could find any with low mileage in the price range I set for myself but now I saw afew with good miles the 04 G35 coupe I was looking at has only 56K on it. Current mileage on my G6 is 38K. I just wanna be sure maintenance won't burnthrough the pockets.

I know Infiniti is a subsidiary for Nissan so doesn't that mean some parts they share which would also mean alot of after market parts available

routine maitenance shouldnt be something to worry about too much, it will be more than your current car but nothing outrageous, you can always shop around.

Not necessarily. I think the only nissan parts that would work on an infiniti would be Nismo parts, and those are relatively expensive compared to regularnissan parts. Modding a g35 is pretty expensive, especially considering you dont get nearly the same returns on another car for the same part. As far asmileage goes...i get about 19-21 with 75% local and 25% freeway.

Yeah those G37 are beast..

Yeah Crumbs not really the reg maintenance im sketchy about just the unexpected maintenance, i read someone had to pay 700 for a new radio
eek.gif
, also heard there's a few electrical problems in the older generations. Imsure an extended warranty will be outrageous but a smart move.

yea well i knew a guy who had some electrical problems that cost him 1700 ...but i guess those unexpected maintenance issues are always problems. the brakesand the such you read about on fourms...you gotta understand those people arent using the car as your average daily driver... if your hitting very high speedson the usual then ofcourse the breaks, rotars and such will need replacement frequently. i only abuse my car about 2-3times a week

Its not as bad as it sounds. The G is a beast of a car. Better performance than most cars in that class/price range and offers some luxury. Brakes and tiresdepend on how you drive. Ofcourse the heavier your foot is the more youll pay for it. Lord knows im paying for it. But you buy what you like. If you worry toomuch you'll never have much of anything in life.

Out of my price range right now

i could live comfortable with a g37...or eat top ramen for weeks with a 335
