Transferring after one year?

I'm currently a freshman at a State School. My first semester GPA was 3.6, extracurriculars (hall council president of my hall

, made mad connects with reslife & resident directors)


I got denied to Northeastern University as a senior in H.S, but I plan on reapplying at the end of this semester.

How much better are my chances, say I got a 3.5 at the end?

I have an established major (Economics) and will have taken both Micro and Macro.

Fill me in NT.

What We Look For

Each year, we receive more than 2,500 transfer applications for 550 places. Transferapplicants are defined as students that have attempted at least 12semester hours of credit (or the equivalent in quarter hours or units)after high school graduation.

Our most successful transfer applicants have earned a cumulative grade point of 3.3 or higher.

Our review process is selective and personal. We understand thattransfer students come from a wide range of backgrounds, and therefore,we consider the following factors as well:

Standardized Tests 
SAT and/or ACT scores are required if a student has completed fewer than 24 semester hours of college-level credit.

Personal Statement/Essay 
All applicants are required tosubmit a statement (250 word minimum) that addresses your reasons fortransferring and the objectives you hope to achieve. 

Recommendation  
One recommendation letter from anacademic advisor, professor or employer to help us learn more about youas a student. We are looking for students who are responsible,independent, good citizens, self-aware, and active participants intheir education. 

*Transfer students are required to apply to a specific college and major and cannot be reviewed for undecided or open options.

That's the thing. It's cheaper by $30k/year. I am curious to see how many grants (parents recently divorced) and scholarships I can milk out if get in.

damn 30k a year?!? i am so thankful for Florida Bright Future's scholarship. now if only that carried over into grad school -_-

Tuition+fees = 35k
Room & Board= 12k


48K....my state school is 18k

im trying to transfer in to rutgers (newark campus) this fall but i think i miss the deadline for fall semester so hopefully next spring
