Yeah this is tough, I want them to be able to catch idiots and criminals. terrorists before they can possibly commit heinous crimes against innocent people, but at what cost? Part of me wants to think that downloading a song wouldn't be under this much scrutiny or be high priority b/c as a law abiding person (mostly) I still want my freedoms.....I'm conflicted I guess

How would we ever know.
They could catch you legally walking through your city armed doing something "suspicious", stop you, find the weapons, question you, and come to the conclution that you're dangerous and take credit for "stopping" you... Science fiction. Maybe they have a more intelligent way of identifying that goes beyond what they're reporting. Remember, this was formally top secret....

There was a statistic that said on the night of the OBL raid (spare me whether or not you think it happened) that there were 11 other simultaneous operations going on that night.
