Trip To San Francisco

Hey yall. We're going on a trip to sf next month for a few days and i would like to start planning. Haven't been there in a long time, and have noknowledge of anything, but we would like to do some touring (alcatraz, golden gate bridge, etc.,), shopping, eating, etc. anyone care to direct me to hotels insf, where to go, the nice spots, shop, just any info would be great. thanks!

yo cruz, i just went to yelp.com and searched for power exchange.

Granted i never been and dont plan to but just looking at pics of the empty rooms creeped me out. reminded me of the Saw movies.
 
Believe it or not, I've never even been to the place.

I just want someone to experience it first hand for NT.

Unfortunately, Fat Slice on Haight isn't there anymore. It's a new restaurant now.

been researching and wondering if we should get a hotel that's not close to downtown/union square area, and a bit cheaper? if we drive to the city, couldwe just park somewhere for the day for a fee and go the fisherman's wharf/pier 39 area?
