Honestly, its human nature.  People strive to be a certain way but get caught up in their lifestyle, environment, how they were raised, etc.  I find that I like artists more when they contradict themselves because its real.

Exactly.

Pac was from a family of revolutionaries. Not GOONS.

I respect Pac for his honesty and his anti establishment sentiments. THAT is where he is from.

By many accounts, when he was in NY preparing for Juice, a movie he ACTED in, he changed. He thought he really was Bishop.

Hanging out with Hatian Jack is not revolutionary. Revolutionaries may be treated like criminals. But we all should see the difference between the 2.

Not sure why Pac was so thirsty to get close to the goons. It's like he wanted to be a part of that life. While BIG grew up around that life and was looking to get away from it.

Which is why I find the first statement I quoted so laughable. Neither was about that life. But one knew enough about it yo not want to be a part of it.

I see a lot of that on here. Cats you know ain't built like that so enamored with street life. When if you really KNOW about street life, you would rather be doing something else.
dope post.

Thanks for posting those vids, Chico. I've always been a huge fan of Pac but never seen them before... props!

Interesting to see this go from pac>big, big>pac, NY>CA, CA> NY, to a lot of red and blue showing up in text...
overall its pointless arguing like who you like and let others like what they like its preference

I remember a vid of Treach saying this right after Pac died.

.
Richie Rich, rapper from the Bay Area (Was on the I Got 5 On It RMX and I think put out a solo album) who came up with Pac said the same thing.

I'm sure it's something a lot of people know, but not many want to say. Both were tight with Pac and both are kind of saying their man isn't what he portrays himself to be.

Sometimes, on some real #@%! though, you can say things like that with LOVE.

Like, I'm sure both dudes would have rather Pac not gone that route, because then both would still have a good friend alive and well.
come on now, I presume you used him to validate your claim because you know he a legend out here.

I'm nitpicking though, carry on.

I agree for the most part, BUT I would like to add...

For the record, revolutionaries and the streets are not necessarily two separate worlds, and certainly weren't when you're talking about the Black Panthers.

at the notion that "BIG grew up around that life" and Pac didn't.

First, by all accounts I've heard, BIG actively sought out the "thug" route himself.  I mean, the man had an educated schoolteacher for a mother, and he was the only child.  All that stuff about sharing pants and going hungry was fabricated.  This dude likely had a luxurious lifestyle compared to the majority of the guys in the neighborhood.

On the other hand, Pac's mother was an impoverished, formerly-incarcerated revolutionary who turned to drugs.  His family was transient, moving from Brooklyn to Baltimore to the Bay, and in each place they lived in the slums and were sometimes even homeless.

Now you tell me who seems to really come from "that life."  Without a doubt, both Pac and BIG were around the streets their whole lives given the communities that they lived in.  By all accounts, BIG participated in the drug trade to a much greater degree than Pac did, but to act like Pac wasn't cool with the goons when he was growing up seems pretty ridiculous.
