Turning 21...Vol: Drivers License

So I will be turning 21 in 2 months and I'm curious about getting my new license, without that big $!% under 21 in red (Im in NY, next to you picture ifyou are under 21 it has it in block letters vertically.) I looked online but didnt get any clear answer. My license expires on my bday, ive been told i have torenew my license then i was told they will just send me my new one. If so will it come in time for my bday etc. Some might say what does it matter, the datewill say your 21, well when they scan it they will see its expired or the big under 21 still gets trouble even if your legal....help?

well in CA it does matter, depending how strict the person is checking your ID. It takes about 2 weeks for your new ID to come in so renew it about a monthbefore your bday

It comes in time if you renew it atleast 2 weeks before your birthday. I had mine the day before

And even if you don't have it in time, they should just check it and let you by.

yea i used to work at a grocery store and buncha dudes had the red stripe on their ID's but they r still 21

They should send a renewal notice at least a month prior, just pay it off 2 or 3 weeks before and you'll be good. I wanted to get a new pic though(didn't want to have that pic of a 17 y.o. me for another 4 years lol) so I went to the DMV and got another taken.

i'd assume you would have to renew it at the DMV, then they'll send you the new ID in the mail in 2-3 weeks or so...

that's the process here in Minnesota anyway.

i been 21 for 5 months and ain't got my new license yet. i just don't wanna pay the $25 to get one when i already know how to drive

plus, i'll be damned if i know where my birth certificate is
