Important News about Vine
Since 2013, millions of people have turned to Vine to laugh at loops and see creativity unfold. Today, we are sharing the news that in the coming months we’ll be discontinuing the mobile app.

Nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today. We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way. You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website.

Thank you.  Thank you. To all the creators out there — thank you for taking a chance on this app back in the day. To the many team members over the years who made this what it was — thank you for your contributions. And of course, thank you to all of those who came to watch and laugh every day.

What’s next? We’ll be working closely with creators to make sure your questions are answered and will work hard to do this the right way. We’ll be sharing more details on this blog and our Twitter account, and will notify you through the app when we start to change things.

- Team Vine & Twitter

Vine was home to some of the weakest jokes and comedy on the internet, personally I will not be sad to see it go

I agree, Vine had the most irritating "comedians" of all time. Every dumb @#% with a smart phone was posting "____ be like" videos. Good riddance

Good riddance. Vine had everyone thinking they were an actual comedian.

Plus I don't know any grown person, man or woman - in real life - who's ever actually enjoyed or referred anything relevant via Vine.

Just a bunch of 'please click on my link' posters hoping to become famous off of forced-entertainment.

Glad to see it go.

Twitter is a garbage company.

Short it and make $$$ from its carcass.

Hardly believable. Vine showed that with just 6 seconds, some people are really creative.

It had its run but to crap on it as useless and having no contribution to the social media landscape is disingenuous.

Where will people go for those best of the week vine twerk compilation?!?

This and this. Imma miss the vine comp tho on wshh. Also vine came thru with the nba highlight videos. Smh nba thread won't be the same.

I didn't know anyone who actually used vine they just went to Wshh to catch the comps though

Vine didn't even work half the time. It was a terrible app.
