Uber hustle?

^it definitely isnt worth driving, say, 9-5. no one is around requesting a cab.

So hypothetically, if I go out tomorrow and buy a car specifically to use for uber with a monthly car note with insurance, could I write off all if that for taxes assuming I only use the car for uber?

yes. you can write off what you attribute to business use, which in this case, would be 100%. for a payment, you would depreciate the car, not deduct the flat payment. although you can deduct a lease payment. however, the standard mileage method is much easier to track and beneficial as long as your lease isnt 500+ a month and you arent making repairs every week. (if you use standard millage, you cannot also depreciate, deduct gas, oil, repairs, etc. one or the other.)

Been thinking about doing this as a side hustle but my car smells like weed all the time

You probably can't angle it at all to pay less taxes can you? I'm sure that app records it all. I'd be getting hella contacts and cut uber out altogether. Screw that. Working 50 hours to take home 500 bucks.

I'm thinking u should buy a car specifically for Uber and it will eventually pay for itself..while continually factoring the depreciation

Is this a side gig for you or your full time "job?"

This is my full time job. I have another job that pays a lot more but I only get to do that 10 hrs a week.

The pay isn't the greatest but it works for me. The flexibility is the main thing for me. Nobody tells me when to work or for how long. I don't have to work if I don't feel like it or I can work for as long as I want if I need to. No need to call in sick or get someone to cover a shift. No more waking up and dragging myself out of bed to go to work.
