Any one still willing to debate the existence of a "post-racial" America?

Cliff Notes

- Stokes, a Jr. at UCLA, and a handful of black male undergrads highlight disparities in UCLA black male enrollment.

- Black men make up 3.3% of UCLA's male student population, of which 65% are undergraduate athletes.

Thoughts?

- Legacy of Proposition 209 (1996)? California measure that prohibited state government institutions (i.e. UCLA) from considering race.

- How to talk about race outside of a black-white framework, while also emphasizing the unevenness of oppression?

Students of color conference happening this weekend at UCLA best believe they will be making moves/bringing ideas back to their respective UC campus.

Throw in some more stats:
All black undergrands at CAL hover at about ~2.2% from what I last remember.
When prop 209 was enacted acceptance rates for black students dropped at about half from 8 to 4 percent.

its 1am i'll see wassup tomorrow morning

Saw this the other day. Major props to those students. Can't wait for the shade to start flying in this thread.
