So I just unlocked my iPhone from At&t last night because I wanted to sell it off some guy on craigslist. He has boost mobile. I was doing some googling and a lot of people say he won't be able to use it because Boost does not use a GSM network. But fast forward today he said he wanted take my phone to the store and have them give him a new sim card or something like that to test it. He just gave me a call and said everything works fine, so now I'm puzzled and don't know for sure how that happened. I'm not complaining though because I got to sell my phone anyways so we're both happy. Anyone wanna chime in?

^ trolling for a stupid thread is understandable, but this is not one of those cases

It depends on your model of iPhone. Each iteration of a phone has a certain shelf life. During that shelf life, a number of different models may be released under the same branding. For example, if you buy an iPhone 5s, you might get model number A1533 or A1457.

Some models support GSM. Some models support CDMA. Some models support both. The model you end up buying depends on what region, carrier, and when you buy. Thats pretty much all there is to it.

Oh ok gotcha, that cleared a lot of things up. I was unaware that some phones can support both GSM and CDMA. I'm assuming mine did since he got his running smoothly.
