Alex Epstein chellenges Bill McKibben, arguably the most vocal opponent of fossil fuels, to a debate for $10,000. Bill McKibben has accepted. To be held November 5th, 2012.

Is this dude serious?

Is he serious?

Are you serious?

Global warming has been disproven, I hope everyone watches this and realizes what I'm saying.

Yeah fossil fuel has been tremendous for us, but now that we know more it's time to move on and find better alternatives, because it won't be here forever. Oil doesn't have a clear future anymore. Arguing that oil is great won't automagically create more, or reduce pollution.

WHAT?!

WOW.

Where's that proof, homie? I gotta see this.

Except there's like 100 years worth of oil under Colorado that we don't use on purpose to drive up prices.

^ This guy still quoting me :lol

"Did you know, that the countries that use the least fossil fuels actually have the worst environment?

Did you know, that the countries that use the most fossil fuels actually have the best environments?"

get this man a nobel prize !

I would be interested actually, and I want to hear both sides as always, so I'm glad you made the thread.

But that statement was just..... :x

Not my thread, but I am going to watch this at work for sure.

You should too

:lol Destructive Climate Change has been disproven? :lol

Our domestic oil has significant ability to lower gas prices? :lol

They're mad at carbon taxes and credits the commodification of new markets that take advantage of regulations that impose limits on pollution.

Theres this theory that "the elite" are using society to impose this notion that we're the cause of global warming to then sell us the cure. Its an interesting notion, but even on a superficial level it fails to sustain any credibility.

For example, the green house effect has been proven. Its real. It exists. Now as for "man made global warming?" People will say the same size is too small or they disagree with the testing methods. Fair enough. But does that give us the right to trash the environment anyways?

carbon dioxide emissions = trashing da environment? yea.....

*waits for da regulation of cow farts by da government*

...Do you know what Carbon Dioxide is?...that product that is the result of oxidative respiration...

OR

Do you mean Carbon MONOXIDE?

LOL...you mean that molecule that has 10x more binding affinity to hemoglobin than oxygen causing suffocation?

Lets get the molecules right before we do this.

And when you refer to cows, you're talking about Methane. Which was pretty toxic to most humans last I checked.

You're better than this ninjahood.

What did he say that gave you the intimation that he DOESN'T know what he's talking about?

Carbon dioxide and methane are both toxic, or non toxic depending on how you look at it. And both are greenhouse gases.

Hold up. You posted an article to debunk an inconvenient truth (i'm not defending that) but you admit that the greenhouse effect exists.

So...

How does that work?

Oh and I called Ninjahood out on the basis that:

1. He LAUGHED at CO2 harming the environment (it does) and didn't indicate that CO was more harmful which would have made more sense.

2. Dude thinks methane is a joke.

I mean I can't take that sort of stuff seriously.

I'm down to hear the holes in the anthropogenic global warming argument, but damn...we're ignoring basic science now too?
