You guys are talking about having 4-5 year stretches of great football every year spread out every 10 years or so... don't think it works that way in most cases.
I feel like for some of the elite programs thats exactly what has happened. I mean UF went to back to back national championship games in the 90's (grantednot the same run as the one with Meyer). I would consider that a small run. That's about a decade ago from their championship last year.
I guess what Im sayin is that elite programs have their 2-3 year stretch and may fall off. But then eventually they rise back to national contention whetherits due to a new coach or that one stretch of great players/recruits. Like I wouldnt think Michigan is going to be the doormat in the Big Ten forever. Maybe Imwrong here.

Gunna,
Why wouldnt u consider college football a cyclical thing? Teams have their runs for a few years, then fall off, then eventually bounce back dont they? At least the elite programs.![]()
Generally when talking about the cycles of college sports programs it has to do with underclassmen to upperclassmen - you're talking about having one (relatively) great year every 2 or 3 years, when the players line up correctly in your program.

Dude is a bandwagon fan its clear to see. Not one of those teams are even remotely close to the other. Not hard to pick favorites when all you want to root foris winners.

Florida coach Urban Meyer, who announced Saturday night that he would step down after coaching the Gators against Cincinnati in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day, is now having second thoughts about retirement, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com on Sunday.
Under a plan being discussed, Florida offensive coordinator Steve Adazzio would coach the Gators in the Sugar Bowl. Meyer, who cited health concerns as the reason for his retirement, would take a leave of absence and return to the team before the 2010 season.
However, a source close to the program told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that Meyer would take a leave of absence for the entirety of the 2010 season. Adazzio would take over as interim coach for the season.
Meyer, who led the Gators to BCS national championships in 2006 and 2008, is scheduled to address media members in New Orleans at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Glad Urban isn't leaving after all...I don't know how the hell this is going to work, but Addazio can't even coach the offense right let alone the whole team so we'll see. Hope this reassures all the blue chip recruits and they stay with their commits. I just don't know if Urban can do this being in the background scenario, dude is and always has been a workaholic.
