Not in the Coast Guard, but i was deployed to a Coast Guard facility in Kuwait for a couple months.  But if "is it easier" is a real concern for you, you should probably look into a different line of work

like for this thread. cant help w much info but i do plan to be a coast guard in my lifetime.
i do have a question tho, for those who are in the coast guard... how well do you have to be at swimming?
