I got my most recent phone in Jan 09. I am currently on a family share plan, but it's time to branch off onto my own plan. If I stay with Verizon, and go on my own, is it considered a new contract and I get an upgrade or do I have to keep my current phone until my new every two upgrade/credit period comes up?

Thanks people

call verizon

most likely you will get an upgrade because they allow you to upgrade every 1.5 years after signing a 2 year contract

i believe you have to ask your parents to release your phone number though

-It will be a new contract as you weren't the primary on the family plan.
-I believe you are entitled to a new phone as well. If not there will be a fee (not too large though).

I was going to do the same thing last summer but I decided not to. Didn't want another bill.
