Visiting Palm Springs/LA area what to do with 1 free day suggestions??

I'm coming to Palm Springs (from out of country) for a wedding next week. We'll leave Palm Springs at 12 pm on Sunday. Our flight back is Sunday 1130 pm at LAX (and we have a rental car).

I was thinking Universal Studios. It says it takes about 2 hours (120 miles) to get there. Would 230 pm to 830 pm be enough time there? We'd need to leave ourselves about 1.5 hours to get to LAX + turn in a rental car + check in (says 40 minutes)

Any other suggestions that work for a Sunday in those areas?

shouldnt be a problem, its not that big of a theme park tbh
