I don't consider PS3s right now expensive, at all. Think of it like this:
A regular Blu-Ray player is about $300.
A PS3 has Blu-Ray, online capabilities, play games, stores media and more, and it's only $100 more?! Do the math.

no backwards compatibility is a killer for me.

Does backwards conpatibillity really matter? are you buying a PS3 to play old ps2 games or for god sakes even ps1?
