I'm a few years late, but I finally finished reading the first volume of Akira at the local bookstore and noticed more than a few similarities between his character in the video and Tetsuo emerging from his room in the hospital.

And the story in question is amazing, BTW.

i dont even know what akira is and i know it was used for Stronger

Yes, I believe so.
I thought someone was going to remake Akira. Wonder what happened with that.

Maybe I need to read the Manga cause I have seen the movie at least 40 times and I STILL don't completely get it

.
It's basically a post-World War III depiction of a decimated Japan set in the future.  There are a lot of themes that keep popping up throughout the story, but in the end it just boils down to how far man will go to push the envelopes of science in order to control the world.

Damn for all the times I've seen both Akira and Stronger I've never linked the two ....... Also I never knew the movie was based on a manga, guess I'll check them out

Good looking out 'Haze... I definitely have to cop all the volumes of the manga and eventually the anime on DVD.

Akira really set the tone for me as far as getting into Anime.

Akira stays winning though. The live action better not disappoint.
