With CBM's, that isn't too far fetched. Flashback scene where they show him flying into the sun from the first movie and then has a last second change of heart. Then someone makes a snarky comment to get a "flying too closely to the sun" joke in there since his name is Ikaris, audience wink, and on to the next scene. Cue to Kevin Smith crying over the scene.
