What a harder position, being a goalie in soccer or hockey?

Having a debate with my coworker.

I told him soccer because the area he has to cover is much greater.

My coworker says hockey because the puck comes in faster, players have black tape on their sticks to hide the puck.

IMO in ALL of sports...

1) NFL QB
2) NHL Goalie
3) MLB Catcher

so hockey goalie

soccer.. some of the spin and curve on the ball is ridiculous.. someone post up that roberto carlos free kick

Hockey. When you see that in person and realize how fast the puck is coming in :x
hard as hell to keep up with

I don't know but I do know that I would much rather be a soccer goalie.

Not trying to have pucks flying at me @ 90+ MPH.

i used to be a golie in hockey, its hard but preventing the other team from scoring is rewarding seeing ur team happy

My coworker plays hockey and he says it doesn't hurt because of the protection, just in some specific spots.

Didn't even know it was possible to curve a soccer ball. :x

Hockey for sure. Not only are you on skates, but that puck is coming 100mph+ And I'm sure it hurts like a mofo even with the pads.

Don't think I've ever seen an injury to a soccer goalie like that hockey goalie who had his throat slit. :x hockey players in general are some of the toughest dudes in all of sports. Even some of the goalies throw down. :hat

Being a hockey goalie I agree with the hockey responses

That puck is whipped around by players; fast and accurately

A hockey goalie is armed with a big stick and expected to block the puck

hockey fans, is that stick really useful? i'd rather just use my hands but i have no knowledge of the sport

it's extremely important to have that stick...when they drop it or lose it, they're extremely vulnerable on any low shots

Vital. Absolutely vital. Not only to block shots but to play the puck, deflect passes around the crease, poke loose pucks out, etc
