What are some ways you save money? Vol. 373821326894423

(actually, get rid of your microwave all together. worthless.) ........... also, use candles more. small little ones. How much light do you really need?

save every gift bag anybody ever gives you. instant gift bag for somebody else!

i will never buy wrapping paper again. too many newspapers, magazines, or free posters available. honestly, nobody else uses them for that, so you'll at least be unique!

this one's a bit tricky in the legal department: paying for garbage service? just find somebody else that is and secretly add your refuse to theirs! (hint: eliminate all personal documents or identifying information). remember, if you're using those grocery store bags, it keeps your garbage down to manageable amounts!

Shave less. by one day. maybe two.

volunteer at events that include being fed, like church groups, community service organizations, etc.

your body doesn't really need liquids other than water, so just realize everytime that you're drinking something other than water that you're spending more money than you have to. (unless it's at one of the previously mentioned free food volunteer events.)

you probably don't need insurance if you're really really really careful. (health/auto/appliance warranties)

if you need new hangers, ask a local dry cleaners if they have any extra.

next time somebody needs a present for something, look through your old things first before buying them something new. if it's a personal thing, then you get bonus points for sentimentality!

I'm going to have to disagree HEAVILY with this one. The cost of insurance compared to the potential benefit is insignificant. Especially for health and life insurance. I've had family members who would have racked up over $1/2 million over the year if it weren't for the health insurance. (Appliance & any electronic insurance is a ripoff though. ~30-40% goes to the person's commission)

The rule of thumb is if you can't afford to pay for it out of pocket, then you should probably have insurance for it.
do your own taxes. Seriously, if you're reading this, then it's not that hard for you.read the instructions, and go online for assistance, but wow, you're paying how much for that? save copies of all of your financial docs year over year, and just do it yourself. (hint, your previous year forms and info might even be available for free from the irs or your state agency, so take advantage!)
Another one that can cost you. Even though TurboTax only costs $40, paying a CPA $200 can reap much more than it costs.

- Do your own car repairs

- Learn to do your own home repairs

- BUDGET. Set aside a set amount of money each month for a specific category and don't renew it until the first.

- CostCo

- Shop at Ross, Marshalls, TjMaxx

- Stay offline and away from the TV. It's been shown you spend ~20% more due to the influence of commercials

-Good Credit
-Paying in full (cars, etc.)

THIS and it takes so much discipline.

My advice is eliminate interest required purchases like stated above, live within your means, eliminate impulse purchases and find a stable girl.

If you plan purchases, discounts and sales will fall in line.

Times are tough these days, so what do you do to save a few bucks? Me:

- I'm pretty anti-social anyways so I don't go out to bars/clubs CHECK

- Prepaid phone CHECK

- Try to ride my bike to work everyday (2 miles = nothing)

- Pack lunch everyday for work NEED TO DO

- Cook most of my meals NEED TO DO
Shi* If I stop eating out I'd have a hell of alot more money.

open up a checking account so your paycheck goes to the bank through direct deposit... bring your lunch everyday and occasionally eat out once a week if that...carry less than 20 dollars in your wallet so you wont be tempted to spend too much money... try to use your debit card for purchases to avoid impulse buys

I put myself on a weekly budget for things like gas and food.  Whatever small amount of money I take out of the bank every Friday is all I can spend until the next Friday.  If I run out of money on Wednesday, too bad... gotta wait until Friday.

I don't have a debit card to go with my checking account, so whatever cash I have in my pocket is what I have.  Can't go spend a large amount of money impulsively if I don't have access to the large amount of money.

On a regular basis I move money from my checking account into three different investment accounts.  Once it's been moved, that money is no longer readily available to spend, so I can't spend it... plus it's making more money for me that won't get spent.

I currently have two jobs.  My larger paycheck goes direct deposit into my bank account, so I don't even get to consider cashing/blowing it.  My smaller check is my weekly spending budget, and I typically deposit more than half of that one, too.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I don't drink or smoke.  This helps a lot.

Basically, I don't spend money.

I shop at Marshalls/TJ maxx/Thrift stores. Thrift stores have a ton of OCBDs/khakis/blazers/suits. Cheap price and I always find Brooks bros/RL and just get them tailored. Nice fitting polo pants for like 15 bucks :hat Really don't eat out too often since im in the dining hall or just ramen. South bend is overpriced too smh.

me and my friends just go pick up costco branded tequila/vodka and put it into goose bottles or patron and the girls think its actually those brands lol... Good thing one of my boys gets free empty bottles from his restaurant

I’m going to start extreme couponing like on that show and get $500 worth of groceries for free.

I have 15% of my paycheck go directly to my Roth 401(k). Another 5% directly to an online savings account that way it isn't readily available.
