i wanna know what you guys think about music that you hear on the radio today as opposed to the music that came out in, say the 90's.
do you guys believe the quality of music decreased as time moved on? you guys can give example to. thanks

More wack now.

Electric Relaxation
Award Tour
C.R.E.A.M
The World Is Yours

all singles during the 90s. Also all great songs, there aren't too many great songs on the radio after the turn of the century.

i will take the 90's any day

old Hov
BIG
Pac
old Nas
Lauryn Hill
old OutKast
old Eminem

I dont even listen to the radio anymore.... And probably about 75% of my ipod is music from the 90s

nobody cares about the quality of stuff they put out long as they make money off it

back then people didnt do it for the money, they did it because they loved making music

now its all about record labels and money.

What's the point of asking this question? You know what people are going to say...

yea i know but i just want to see why music has decreased in quality. like why is it all aboutgetting money and being flashy and selling drugs and smashing women?

There was lot more quality in the 90's, like there weren't as many garbage rappers as there are today.

I think the best years were in the early millennium though.

That statement better describes the 80's than the 90's.

But I see what your trying to say and agree.

Not enough trashcans on fire or rapping in vacant buildings in the videos.

You used to be able to just have a hot song and do well sales wise.

It didn't matter if it was a "club", "girl", or "dance" song.

It could've just been a dope song about anything almost.

Now you're forced into a formula.

Shook Ones comes to mind.

There's no comparison. From the music to the business. Shhh is a lot harder on all fronts.

when i think of 90's rap i think of...

dark alleys
cloudy days
guns
violence
drugs
chill, relaxing music
money
hardcore
"dont mess with me cuz i'll %%@$ you up"
uncensored
male oriented
ima tough guy cuz my life is filled with so much pain
complex
group acts
"i dont want you to know my innermost feelings, ima just hold it in like a real man"

when i think of todays rap i think of

fruit loops
cotton candy
pink, purple, yellow, aqua
dancing
soft
"dont %%@$ me up cuz i was never a hardcore guy, i lived an easy childhood"
censored
female oriented
bright sunny days
singing
loud boisterous music
simple
"im gonna tell u my innermost feelings cuz A. it sells more B. females like it "

There was a lot of garbage in the 90s tho... When this conversation comes up, (usually at the barbershop) no one seems to aknowledge the massive amount ofGARBAGE that dropped in the 90s... I mean the only difference today is the GARBAGE to classic ratio... Theses days we'll be lucky to get 1 or 2 classics ina year. I remember goin to the record store every Tuesday coppin more than one album, and they would usually be dope... If not you could just trade a homeboyfor one of his CDs...

These days... @!+$ I couldn't tell you the last time I went to a record store... Maybe Beat Street before it closed to get College Dropout...

To a certain extent, I think the music in the 90's was better because there was more freedom to do things. I could never envision seeing a group like theWu-Tang Clan for instance being marketed in today's day and age like they were in the 90's. There was so much freedom to be different and try newthings back in the 90's.

Outkast for example made strides in their total character throughout the decade and you can see and hear the difference when you listen from albums likeSouthernplayalisticadillacmuzik (I coped and pasted that

) to Stankonia (released in 2000).

But it's not just Wu Tang and Outkast. There were sooo many talented rap groups and artists in the country....It almost feels like hip hop went extinct.
