Would it be motivation, preparation, wisdom, or likability?
Personally I'd prefer the preparation.
Explain. Discuss.

Wisdom. With that you get preparation.

I'd take motivation and preparation. If your players are well prepared and motivated to play, it doesn't really matter if they like the coach

Balls.

(nh)

Don't be a @#$%^ go for it on 4th and 1 from the 50, blitz 9 guys on a third and 8, throw deep up by 3 TD's in the 4th quarter.  Grow a damn pair.  Quit with the play field position, and run the ball (ineffectively) with 5 minutes to go and a 7 point lead.  Teach your team to play that way, and then have the guts to make those calls.  Be surprised how dangerous a team you could be.

Motivation doesnt mean @#!! if you are bad at all other aspects of coaching. Case and point: mike singletary.

are we talking about playing for a coach or a coach for my favorite team?

anyways i'll talk about both. my 8th grade basketball coach is probably my ideal type of coach. he emphasized trying and failing plus the guy was pretty religious. so i guess hes in the wisdom category.

as far as for my favorite team its about the Xs and Os. plain and simple. i probably wouldve said motivation too because its tough to motivate guys who are making millions of dollars but after this NFL season you gotta know damn plays. like what dland just said

If a coach is wise enough, he doesn't need any of those other qualities.

I don't care if you're the best motivator in the game, that alone isn't enough to make a team good.
