I just purchased a blu-ray player along with a 46" LCD HDTV as a present for my Dad. I want to get him a blu-ray movie that really shows you the qualityof both the blu-ray and hdtv. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

negative, 28 Days Later was shot with a SD camera so theres no upgrade visually. so unless you want an upgrade in the sound department stick withthe DVD.

not zombies but check out the 30 Days of Night blu.

Blood Diamond, in addition to a lot of those mentioned.

Basically, anything with dazzling visuals. Dark Knight has the large-scope special effects, Casino Royale has the action sequences and exotic locations, BloodDiamond has the beautiful scenery, Pixar has the detailed animation.

As for Godfather or any other older movie, I don't really know why you'd purchase it on Blu Ray. No matter that it's remastered... it was stillshot in SD before high-definition came around. If you're looking to show off your TV, you should stick with recent movies that were shot in HD.

Wrong. A lot of older movies were shot in resolution higher than HD. What kind of resolution do you think they put in theaters to make it lookgood? Imagine what SD would look like on a movie theater screen? High definition wasn't just invented in the last 10 years or so. It's just a term.
